Herbert L. Parsons, Jr.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Herbert (Herb) Lincoln Parsons Jr., of Peabody, MA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Herb passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 13, 2024 at the age of 80. Herb was born on June 24th, 1944 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and was the son of Herbert and Marie Parsons.
Herb’s career began after graduating high school when he joined Automatic Radio, now known as Armatron International. Starting on the plant floor, he worked his way up through the company over the course of 50 years, ultimately becoming the Data Processing Manager.
Herb also proudly served in the National Guard, demonstrating his deep sense of duty and unwavering love for his country.
Herb’s life was marked by his love for music, his faith, and his family. A lifelong collector of antique radios, Herb found joy in the sounds of a bygone era, and his home was filled with the crackle of old tunes that brought him peace. He had a proud love for his family and friends, with whom he shared his gentle spirit, his wisdom, and his ever-present faith. He attended Community Covenant Church for over 50 years where he was an extremely active member, singing in the choir and donating his time in countless ways.
Herb shared a special and enduring bond with his wife of 58 devoted years, June. They often joked that they were destined to be together—born in the same hospital, in the same nursery, and eventually finding their way back to each other 21 years later. Their love story was a testament to the power of fate, and together they created a lifetime of memories.
Herb was also deeply close to his brother, Bill. Whether sharing a love of music or enjoying quiet moments together, Herb’s relationship with his brother was a central part of his life. Their travels, including cherished trips to Arizona and Nashville with June and Herb’s late sister-in-law, Marilynn, brought them closer and filled their lives with joy.
Herb’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving father to his two sons, Chris and his wife Alethea, and Jamie and his wife Kelly, always offering support, encouragement, and unconditional love. As a grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa,” Herb shared his wisdom, love, and humor with Elle, Sonya, Christian, Anna and Kaylee. His presence in their lives will be deeply missed.
A service to celebrate Herb’s life will be held at the Community Covenant Church on March 1, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Community Covenant Church Memorial Fund.
Though Herb is no longer with us, his love, faith, and the memories he created will live on in all who knew him.
